What
is wellness coaching?
Wellness coaching
is the process of guiding people toward better health through
one-on-one conversations that address the whole self and internal
barriers to health. Those barriers may be physical, emotional,
psychological, spiritual, or related to work, family, or culture. My
goal as a wellness coach is to make sure my clients have the right
information to make sound decisions about their health as well as
the support they need to make effective changes. Wellness coaching
is NOT therapy, but it IS very therapeutic. It’s like life
coaching, but focused on health and fitness.
How
can wellness coaching help you?
Wellness coaching
provides extra support clients need to overcome the internal
challenges to health and wellness. Through non-judgmental
conversations, I help my clients define health and wellness goals,
identify barriers, and create an action plan that works with their
lifestyles. Rather than creating arbitrary rules or guidelines that
people are often more likely to resist, I will support clients in
their process to set up a structure that they create. I hold clients
accountable to themselves.
What
does a wellness coaching session look like?
Wellness coaching
sessions are conversations that occur outside of the training room
or kitchen. In these conversations, clients discuss their attitude
toward themselves, their bodies, food, etc. Each person makes an
individual decision about what to focus on each session, depending
on what their health and wellness needs are at the time. Sessions
may focus on strategizing to prevent barriers to health, delving
into past experiences to see what the challenges were, or discussing
what has been working and figuring out how to move forward.
